ken, the only thing that really has to be changed are the spring perches... Everything else is a direct bolt on...

You sound like you have more of it (4WD swap knowledge) about this than I. I have only heard stories from others of how tough it was. But, I'll take it from someone who's actually done it then. I must say though, what you may have found as an easy job, some of us, me for example, may find an overwhelming, pull your hair out and push the whole thing over a cliff with a backhoe, engineering nightmare. Ha ha, take care amigo, Ken

Doesn`t the K member need to be notched too ? I`ve been reading anything I can find about making a ford van a 4x4 van and it seems purdy simple as long as you know what you`r doing.

Unless you have a fully equipped machine/auto/body shop in your yard and the know-how to use said equipment.
What would you need the body and machine shop for ? Only thing I can think of that you would need to have the machine shop for is to have the drive shaft cut down

to built you will need:
- front end solid axel and leafs complete with shackles(1973-79 F150 solid front axle (Dana 44) is 4" too narrow
1973-79 F250 solid front axle (Dana 44) is 1" too narrow
1973-79 F350 solid front axle (Dana 60) is just right
1980-95 F150 IFS front axle is 2" too narrow
1980-95 F250 IFS front axle is just right
1980-95 F350 solid front axle (Dana 60) is just right
-4' long 2x3 square tubing
about 6' long piece of 1/2" thick and 6" wide flatstock(cut in small pieces and weld togheter to make brackets i know i could use 3/8 od 1/4 but i beliwe more is better rule (except women )
with good press could be made without too many welds
-i belive in acetylene so this is way i maked most of components
-few drills etc
aha you also need about 48 hours of total working time on it write me email if you will try to attempt one or check http://exposystems.us and by the way i do framing for living and if you have garage with tools and ambition this should be no problem

Trannies are bolted together , so its still a bolt on . You could just take the tranny out of a 4x4 truck but you realy don`t need to.
