i posted this in the tranny forum but no luck i figure the fe experts could help with this my transmission is a c-6 with a 428 makes a screeching sound and gets louder when in gear is this the pump or torque converter it is from the rear area of the engine
Do you have an aftermarket converter? It sounds like a converter gone bad! I had it happen to me before, it first sounded like converter bolts but then later had a squeeling sound from within the trans!..I would say what brand but I dont know if thats allowed??...hopefully thats not your problem though!!

the torque converter was removed for a while and worked fine before the new engine was dropped in i had the torque converter sitting in a clean bag while doing it and the torque conveter looks newer i know it had a recent rebuild before i bought the truck a year ago i have the loud squeling too.what would cause this to happen
No problems/noise with the tranny before you pulled the motor apart? All you did was pull of the TQ Converter? Did you remove the internal spline when you removed the Converter? When you put the converter on, did you make sure it was dropped on the shafts all the way back, it's like a two/three stage clunking/engagement...
