1996 I've grounded the wire to see if gauge will move still no luck, was going to try to pull dash part out but can't get light **** off, and I don't see any screws that hold the bezel in. Any advise please
the gauge may still be ok. you should trace the wire back from the solenoid with a test light and see if it has juice. could be a simple wire break. or just scrap the gauge and get a real mechanical gauge instead. more accurate and relieable.
Ford gagues are crap! Go with some mechanical gauges like Kem said. VERY easy and worthwhile install. Let me know if you decide to do this. I have a write up along with pics.
my temp gage is always on cold but truck runs fine and has heat. what might be the problem and how can i fix the gage . Is it the heat sensor? just wondering if its worth my time to fix. Thanks

Could be a number of different things...first what's the vehicle? Could be sending unit...could be bad wiring...could even be the gauge itself or the circut board behind the cluster.
As I said before It would be more worth your time and money to buy a mechanical temp gauge...there is no electric input (except for backlighting the gauge) to go wrong. PLUS they are much more accurate. Very easy install...VERY easy! I just installed a set of EQUUS 1.5" mini-gauges (Volt, water temp and oil pressure) a month ago ($45 total package). Much more satisfied with the results and know exactly what is going on with the functioning of my engine!
I have included package instructions (Water temp) just to show you how easy it is...if you can drill holes, are'nt color blind and know how to work a few wrenches then this should be easy!
Thanks for replay. first she is a Ford Bronco 1992 5.8 efi 351 engine .I had just purchased a used 92 engine that had 70,000 miles on it, The original engine died on me. anyway i thinkthe guy who worked on it forgot to tranfer the the temp sensor. just my guess. I am going to check it out tommorow when I put in my EGR Valve. Engine runs fine otherwise except for poor gas milage. thank in advance. Dave
the poor mileage is due to the computer not reading the engine temp. so its causing a rich condtion using twice as much fuel. the temp solenoid is at the front of motor then there is another sensor in the middle of lower intake drivers side near fuel rail. I would also replace the thermostate if your installing a used engine. 195* would be correct temp
Thanks for advice . I am going to replace the thermostat soon as i can. I figured it was running rich now I know why. But for right now my thinking is to replace the Temp. Solenoid. Can i go to a junkyard and swap one out or would be better to get a new one and how much can i expect to pay for one ? Thanks Dave
