When Ranger is in reverse, it beeps.

I bought a 2000 Ford Ranger last week and all of a sudden when I put it in reverse, it starts to beep when I back up like a large truck would. It never happened when I bought it. I didn't know it had this feature. Even though it is a good safety feature, does anyone know why it would start beeping for no reason? How could I stop the noise when I put it in reverse?

I'd say check and see if someone replaced the back up lights in back with a set of beeping lights. I've seen them before (if I remember correctly).

Possibly they didn't work before as an intermittent problem, and they now are making connection and back up and functioning.

Your truck did not come with this option, as far as I know.

that truck was on a construction site. there are beepers that hook up the the backup lights and like the above post says in the lights themselves. we put em in all the construction trucks for insurance reasons.
