Yes, if this connection is bad, your headlights will just shutoff. Kinda freaks you out at 75 miles an hour on an empty highway at 2am (that's when it happened to me).
You will more than likey have to pull the carpet up to get to it...no big deal really. The electrical connector should just pull off.
Check to see if your electrical connection is three blades or two!!!
I had to make a return trip cause to the parts store cause I didn't know this.

Good luck. You may want to put a little dielectric grease on the plug as well. Some people also relocate it to the side wall so that it won't collect salt and moisture.
