Finally got my truck done went to fire it up the other day which would have been the first time it turned over twice then no power whatsoever. It was like I had a dead battery but tested the battery today and its good what could be wrong? Its a 74 highboy with a 390 and a NP435. I dont get it.
well thanks
check battery connections and grounds (all of them between the starter and battery and the ground on the engine too). that means take them off and clean them. ignition switch, starter solenoid, or a connection between the two could be bad.

In Franklin2's drawing above for reference, check between #1 and #2 with a test light or a volt meter. If all is good, remove the battery's negative cable from the block and clean the block with a wire brush and the end of the cable to assure metal to metal contact. Make sure the engine block is grounded to the firewall and also to the frame. Sounds like either the battery is completely shot or you have lost ground connection. You should have voltage at #3 all the time. With the key in the run position you should have approximately 7-8 volts at the "I" terminal on the starter solenoid. You should then be able to jump the #3 terminal and the "S" post and crank the engine OR when you turn the key to crank position, you should have 12 volts at the "S" post and the starter should turn.
On the starter relay at connection #3, there are a couple smaller red wires that feed the ignition switch. These have a fuseable link in the first couple inches. When there is a over load (or just age) they melt internally causing you to loose all power. Test with a test light after the fuse links, if no power there, then you have a bad fuse link that needs replaced. You can get a new one from the parts store - be sure to solder connections and cover with heatshrink tubing.
