Automatic Headlamp adjustment
Does anyone know if you can adjust the sensitivity of the automatic headlamps? I would like for mine to turn on a little sooner. Right now it has to be pretty dark for them to come on.

Light adjustment
I read the manual and could not find anything on adjusting the auto headlights. I had a 2001 XLT that you could pop the dash off and adjust the sensor for the light to make them come on when it was lighter or darker. I'm not sure if they use the same sensor or not on the 2004 but getting the dash off would be a big pain. What you could try is putting a piece of window tint over the sensor and see if the lights come on sooner. I did that and my lights would come on even on a cloudy rainy day.

I found the 'reach over and turn the headlight switch' method the first time it rained and my lights did not come on. I just figured that the amount of money I paid for the truck should get me automatic headlamps that would come on when I wanted them to.
You are correct though, the 'reach over' method is pretty easy.

take it to the dealer
mine come on in the middle of the day in my carport which is'nt dark at all. they can probably adjust the sensitivity, or give you that dumb look when you try to explain the problem to them.
