Everybody here talks about other trucks 1/4 mile times, but no one talks about a Ford F-150 w/4.2 times. Has to be like 18-19 seconds if the Hemi is 16 secs. I'm kinda suprised you guys are admitting that the Lightning and SRT-10's are faster!
Dang it Garrett! You replied to it before I could! You sneeky cat you!
Yup, Jimmy proved it once and for all to me that the 4.2 is a hellishly fast V6 for a full size truck. You'll have to remember that I was there at the track with him when he ran that. I saw the numbers on the time tree and the time slip...to that, there is no contestation!
Garret- I got those times directly out of Truckin' magazine. They have a page in the page that shows a bunch of different trucks and numerous times. I don't know though??????
Magazines differ in times, because some have gnarly drivers and some have females testing the times. That expalins it. The guys at Truckin' aren't racers, they're custom truck dudes. Not that it's bad, i heart Truckin'.
Sure, they do some engine things, like throwing on blowers and stuff. But you notice other mags go crazy like blow 302 rangers and 5.4triton mustangs. With truckin, it's either draggin rocker or 99foot lift kits. Which are equally badass, and unrealistic
Stock Lightings are mid to upper 13’s in the quarter. With $500 in mods (tune and pulley) the same truck will be firmly in the mid to upper 12’s. A bigger pulley and slicks can get you into the mid to upper 11’s. Add a KB blower and be in the high 10’s to low 11’s.
I've never had my truck to the 1/4 mile because it's geared high, but for a heavy truck it's top end is incredible. I use to have to drive around 80-90 miles round trip, so I found this truck with the V-6. Before the Superchip, true duals, large plug wires, and K&N filter with altered breather, I was impressed with it's performance. After add-ons, it's much much better. I wouldn't egg on the 600hp Ram or the Lightning, but the bragger I mentioned earlier with the 5.7L Hemi, I think I could hold my own on top end but not the 1/4 mile.
You guys are full of it. Top end? Almost all trucks are limited to about 100 mph. With a chip that over rides the limiter, I guess 110, 115 would be the max. I wouldn't want to do that in my truck.

I've had my truck up to 123 on the digital odometer on a trip home from Houston (from the track believe it or not) and it was still slowly climbing, so your statement is false. Also, that was in 4th gear, I never hit 5th.
I think it was Talley who had is truck up to 135 at one point...of course his truck had NOS, and butt load of bolt-ons.

Yeah, i read...on another forum....that talley got up to 135 in 4th trailing a vette....
personally, i have never passed 100 in this truck. that's cruising in 5th, im sure i could haul some *** if i actually wanted to....
The only thing that will limit you on top speed, once the govener is removed, is your engine power and your gear ratio.
Low, so far, your narrow-minded views have done nothing but stir the pot. Why don't you look something up before you type? So far just about every post youve made, basically calling us liars, you've had nothing factual to base it on, other then "its logical". I thought you were a ford master tech? What shop do you work at, so I can make sure to never stop there...even if my motor seizes, after i spun a rod, and your shop would do it for free.

Garrett
I CONCUR!!! A third!! A friggin third!!
Just kidding, I don't even know low...His posts haven't really caught my attention either so I don't know what to say about his posting.
Anyways, no I believe putting the Diablo chip in automatically removes the speed limiter, which is on the stock chip. Right Joe?
