I have 235/70/15's on the front with chrome 15x8 rims. I have 31x10's in the back. I don't like the back end of my truck sticking up in the air like a dog in heat. I want a more level look (I am willing to lower the back a little) but am in indecision of what size tires to get. I'm thinking about 255/70/15's all the way around. I want a muscle look all the way around but especially a fat tire look from behind. What do you guys run? No, I don't take her to the track.
I run 275/60/15's on the back and 245/70/15's on the front. The tire heights equate to roughly the same height and the rear gives it a nice fat tired look. A 255/70/15 all the way around would look good and you would be able to rotate them as well. It is all in personal preference so just look at some galleries, find some you like, and ask them what size it is.
hey debestuss i run 255/70s all the way around on my 2wd 69. theyre on factory ford 94-95 chrome steel wheels. the combo looks great. theres a good amount of rubber and you can still rotate them. i thought about looking into 255/60s, but not sure yet. hope this helps
I too am running 275/60/15's all the way around
check my gallery, I have a side and rear view so you can see how it looks with stock suspension.
I too may change if and when I lower it though. I am thinking something like 295's rear and staying with 275's front but going with 18" rims and retaining tire hight.

I didn't see any power steering do you think the turning would be ruff with the 255's on the front? I will be going larger also but without PS I'm a bit worried. Also thats a great looking truck.
I had 10.5x31's up front on a 70 4X4 - - It SUCKED trying to turn it!!!!!!!!!!!!
set it back with 235/75/15's - it turns better, but still can be hair raising.
A year or two of intown driving, should be good for beefing up! - I'm betting NOBODY would want to borrow it either!
Come spring time or so, I'll get serious about brakes and steering, then I may reconsider tire size. In all sincerity - the truck seems to get a better grip with the narrower tires. (but then again, with a big six, and 4:11 gears - we won't be needing speed rated rubber either!)

Reason: spelling
Hey Wallace, Does your truck have overload springs under it? That will raise the tail more than tires. The tires on the front should be about 29" and your rears 31", half of that is on the bottom, so the tires are raising only about an inch.
yes, I have power steering, D. it went out one day, and I really paid for those tires with my arms that day. UUUUGHHHHH!!! as for manual steering I wouldn't go any larger than 235, maybe 255 TOPS!! I think my grandpa's truck had 215's stock, with manual steering, it wasn't too bad.
something to consider, you could do a P/S swap for around $150 if you sourced good salvaged parts. and have it done in a day or two (depending on howmany beers you have while doing it)
i run 295/65/15's all the way around on mine, i love the fat tire look from behind and the handling in the front is alot nicer with the wide tires check out the pics if you want to see them
with a 70' 2wd and manual steering i have LT 235x75xR15 in the front and 31x10.5xR15
in the rear. ?? how can you guys with 2wd run any bigger than 235s on the front, because i have a 1 1/2" aluminum lift under my front coils and my front tires just barely clear.
I have 245/75/16's on my 69 F-250 all the way around, manual steering. It sucks. They fit just fine on stock Ford rims. Actually doesn't look too bad, but I have continued the damage to my elbow from having to rip on the wheel.
i was running 60's on my truck for a while and occasionaly my wife would drive it. she loves the truck but without power steering she nick named the truck BB (boob builder)
