What to do?

I have bought a newer extra cab 4x4, and have been trying to sell my 73 F-100 in the local paper(to no avail). i am now thinking of keeping it and selling the stout rebuilt 390 w/9K on it. Anyone know what a good 390 goes for? Carb to oil pan, just pull it and put it in another truck. I think I would like to make the 73 a supercab and put a short box on it. Put a Dana 60 in the rear and upgrade the front to the 3/4 ton Dana 44 w/ disk brakes. Put a EFI 460 in it w/ an OD tranny. Bucket seats, center console, really pimp it out....What do you think? I really like this truck, just not enough room for the kids and wife to go places......Thanks

it's worth about 5 bucks, put it in a crate and ship it to me. honestly, it depends on how much you did with the rebuild. theres a guy on ebay that sells 0 mileage stock rebuilds on ebay for a bit under a grand. just depends on what you have in it.

It has a Holley truck avenger carb, Eldo perf intake. Eldo mild cam. New(not rebuilt) water pump, all quality parts on the inside(not sure which brand). My buddy who runs an engine shop helped me rebuild(o.k. he did alot of the work). Gots lots of power. Truck just sitting on side of house. Need to do something w/ it.

RAM,
Call your buddy at the machine shop, ask his opinion.
Then call a few other shops.
They should be the ones that know.
Always ask high, you can come down after, if neccessary.
Good luck,
I would pay $500 or $600 for a used motor. It would not leak or burn a drop of oil. Exhaust manifolds should be present. Motor should be started and run for demonstration before sale if requested by purchaser.

I'm assuming the motor if fairly common and holds no significant historical value. It's a two barrel verson, right?

No, it is a 4 barrel. My buddy that helped me build the engine was killed in an atv accident 2 months ago so i was just asking? the engine has 9k on rebuild. Ans is complete from Holley truck avenger carb to oil pan. I have about $1200 into this engine even with my buddies discount on parts. I figure if there was no discout the engine would be arond $1600 as it sits...

If you have all receipts and build facts, and I could hear and see it run, I would go $1000. Problem is that most of the local parts stores sell long blocks with 1-3 year warranties for close to that. It's a personal thing, just depends on what the buyer is comforatable with. Who knows, maybe someone will have theirs crap out and need a quick replacement.
