I have used both on three different vehicles, none that I know of will stand up to the sun out here…cannot figure out why, however. Buy the good ones it is worth the six months of good cleaning you will get out of them, and I never get any more than 4/6 months out of a pair….too dry here.
Tim I hear your 6 months mine needed replacing a few months ago. If I'm lucky I'll get 9 months of good cleaning out of set but after that its hit and miss. I'll check those out. I prob won't go for real expensive ones as I'll be replacing them next july before monsoon time any way.
I need new wipers as the AZ sun destroys them in about a year. I need some for rain and snow. any suggestions.
I have used Anco winter blades for quite a while here in MT. They have thicker blades and a rubber boot over the mechanisim that sloughs off ice and snow. I am about to re-buy some now for the winter. You can find them at walmart about now or NAPA stocks them all year (at least in MT)
I've used both Anco and Bausch in the past (on various vehicles I've owned). Both work fine. I buy 2 sets at a time so I have an extra on hand when they start to fail me. I replace my wipers 1x/yr. I've found that a good washer fluid (de-ice, etc) is also a valuable investment; makes a bit of difference, especially in the winter.
Has anyone tried the SilBlades? I have always used the Bosch blades with excellent results, but I have been considering trying a set of silicone blades like those made by SilBlade. They say that they are not as effected by UV so they might be a good alternative for those of you in AZ. They also are not suppose to stick to the glass like what happens to us in the colder climates.
I grew up in southern Arizona, and am moving back there next month (soon.....soon I'll be warm.....). While here in upstate New York I use ANCO winter blades. They have rubber boot over the frame and springs which keeps snow and ice out. That really helps keep things flexible when you've got freezing rain that wants to freeze your wipers and make them straighter than your windshield, making only 10% of the wiper actually clean your windshield. Up here they only last 9 months, so 6 months in the desert is pretty respectable.
Has anyone tried a silicone blade, such as the PIAA Super Silicone Wiper? Seems to me silicone will outlast rubber in sunlight and winter weather. They are around $18 each though, so they'd have to outlast rubber by 3X.

I tried them and they stayed on my truck for about 2 weeks before I went back to ANCO blades. Found that they did no better for the extra money. As for washer fluid, I use rainx de-icer and it works pretty well.
