with a stock motor....will switching from 33s to 36inch swampers somewhat decrease the preformance?..or will it help it preform better
im having an argument with someone about it
If you increase your tire size, you'll have to get lower gears to compensate for them or else your boggers will do nothing buy bog you down.
not always, but when going to a very big tire(I think he mentioned 42's a re-gear would be a must, you are not only changing final drive, but your rotating mass, go weigh stock wheels, and then some 42's.
While the textbook answer is yes, with a longer stroke it's less noticeable.
When I put my 360 on the road (3.55 gearset), it could spin the 33's I had on the truck, on the highway it was still well enough into the torque band that it pushed them just fine at lower RPMs.
On the other hand, my clutch wasn't too happy with the treatment.
Could be a Windsor also. Sounds like it's time to stop arguing and watch the results. A few upgrades later, projects like this take on a life of their own. Don't miss out on the fun.
For your own assurance, the motor's going to loose some mechanical advantage. That's the bottom line.
then we got into this argument about horsepower being needed to run the bigger tires and they were all no its torque blah blah gears..wich it is but I mean with a high hp motor you wopuld expect to have the torque and everything else to improve aswell so...I dunno ultimatley being a sock motor I think it would lose power....or whatever it would lose..if he put bigger tires on
