Today i changed my plugs wires cap and rotor, then after finding out i mixed up the fireing order, got that straightend out , i found out my heater core blew up and leaked fluid all over the driveway. Well atleast i know i have new plugs gapped right and all that stuff. Next weekend, new heater core and flushing the cooling system. I searched and found directions how to do up the heater core, but now to change all the fluid in the engine, should i like jack the rear of the truck up so it all comes out the bottom tube?
If you replace the radiator hoses, you can flush out the engine with a garden hose while you have it apart My truck is winterized now. The trucks I have were easy to change-out. The non A/C truck took about an hour and a half. Be sure to wipe out the heater box before you install the new core. I had to clean out the duct system in my A/C truck due to leakage and years of stopleak in the radiator. The water gets all over everything eventually. The A/C coil is clean, so the air doesent smell bad.
This may be just me, but when I get a new toy, I like to go thru it with a fine-tooth comb to see how it works. I love being able to fix my truck.
I'm havin the same sorta luck lately. One thing after another after another after another. I figure the way things are goin I'll have practicaly rebuilt or replaced every part on the truck by this time next year.
ive been goin thur the same thing sence my dad gave me my truck. weve replaced the head gasket, water pump, plugs, and plug wires. so im hopin that every thing is good now
hey....this thread is perfect for my truck...lol....i've done the starter twice, rebuilt three parts of the wiring harness, done a tune-up, fixed a loose radius arm, tightened pinion nut (needa tighten a few of the nuts in my head, too, me-thinks), replaced valve cover gasket, replaced battery cables and solenoid, yeah...by this time next year, at the rate i'm goin, i'll have everything replaced in mine, too....lol...

And here I thought I was the only one experiencing this. I've thought of getting a different pickup, but after all the money I've got in this one, it only makes sense to keep at it.
in less than a year I've replaced.... several batteries, alternators and regulators.. a starter, an engine, transmission, transfer case, front axel, headers (twice), valve cover gaskets, breaks all around, break booster, master cylinder, power steering pump (2 or 3 times) power steering V belt at least 3 times, spark plug wires, I've rebuilt the carbs for both motors a couple times, ended up replacing the 351s all together for a new one.. rear axel.. driveshaft (front and rear) gone through at least 6 ujoints.. and there's more, I just can't think of it yet.. it's been a hell of a year for me and my truck. But.. I just can't get enough of it, and could never let it go..
Sounds like someones been having too much fun on the dunes.
