Lights Flickering..power surges
I have a 2001 F150 XLT 4x4 adn the light (headlights, internal dash, and dome lights continuously flicker at idle and driving. In the past week I have replaced the Alternator, battert, serpentine belt, Idle Arm controller and spent over $500 bucks at the Ford dealership to isolate the problem......still nothing. Once I remove the battery cable while running the ALT puts our 15-15.22 volts..(lights are on steady::::::::
Hook the cables up and it starts to flicker.. The Ford Fact tech has no idea what the problem is and recommends to do a complete electrical check at $100/hour for 5-6 hours...I think that it is crazy that he can't isolate the problem with the dealership computers..
Looking for any suggestions or experts out there to assist me find the problem.
Thanks,
I have replaced 3 Brand new Autolite Platinum alternators...they test fine at the auto supply....The Ford dealership assured me it was the alternator adn guranteed it would work with a motorcraft alt....., so they replaced it with a motorcraft. this past Friday......same problem with the surging. As I mentioned the surging only occurs while running. Thanks for the help and comments.

I had them put the Autolite back on. As I mentioned the surging only occurs while running and only with the battery connected. I guess I will look into the ground to the engine,,,,,seems like a short Thanks for the help and comments.
