I am the proud owner of a 95 PSD and am having one heck of a time getting the engine started on these cold Ohio mornings. This is my first diesel so I have a lot to learn but i thought in the meantime i could obtain some timely info to make my life a little warmer and my wife a little less hacked off at me because I park beneath our bedroom window and she really doesn't like being awaken at 0600 to some idiot starting his truck. (she did not want me to buy it in the first place but that's a totally different story). Anyhow, i have started pluggin the truck in before i go to bed and have added fuel additives as discussed on these forums. During the starting process i notice i am exhausting copious amounts of white smoke. The truck is not garage kept. It has spent the great majority of it's service in maryland and florida 250K miles total. once it starts it runs like a champ. any advice will be greatly appreciated and will keep my better half from loosing her mind. (i hope i am in the right forum)
you also might want to try letting the glow plugs cycle 2-3 times before actually starting. this could help atleast until you replace those dang glow plugs
