99 flex fuel ranger code 122
The TPS sensor circuit is continously monitored (tested) by the PCM for a low throttle position rotation angle (voltage) input. If during Key On Engine Off (KOEO) or Key On Engine Running (KOER) the TP rotation angle (as measured in voltage) falls below a minimum calibrated limit (0.17 volts), the test fails. A P0122 trouble code is stored by the PCM and the CEL is illuminated.
Possible Causes:
- TPS not seated properly
- TPS circuit open to PCM
- VREF open to TPS
- TPS circuit short to GND
- Damaged TPS
- Damaged PCM
Tips for your '99 3.0L:
- GY/WH (Gray wire w/White Stripe) is the TPS circuit to the PCM
- BN/WH (Brown wire w/White Stripe) is VREF
- GY/RD (Gray wire w/ Red Stripe) is GND or SIG RTN
Keep in mind the KOEO voltage between VREF and GND should measure 4-6 volts, otherwise the circuit will be "underpowered" to start with.
