A4LD trans problems
My 86 Ranger 4x4 with the 2.9l and A4LD has suddenly starting shifting erratically. I was having problems with it not shifting out of first gear until it was warm, but them I added some transmission conditioner and that problem went away. Now It has been about a month since I added the conditioner and it doesn't seem to want to shift into third or fourth gears. The fluid level is good. The transmission has approximately 130,000 miles.

I have the same problem in my 91. It will drive fine when it is warm but I have to manually shift it when it is cold. I have had more problems with this particular transmission than any ford has ever put out. I too would recommend getting it into the tranny shop, it will fix the problem, again.!!!!!
