My ABS light is on so I took my 97 Ranger to the ford dealer to have the error code read. They told me it is a code 12. My reservoir sensor is not working and I need a new reservoir. A mechanic friend assures me that the dealer is out to lunch and that if there is a problem with the reservoir sensor I will get a red light on the dashboard not an amber one.
I would have to go with the dealer. According to ford a 12 DTC is "loss of Hydraulic brake fluid for one second or more during an anti-lock stop" and can be caused by:
1. low master cylinder fluid level.
2. fluid leaks in brake system.
3. Brake fluid level warning switch.
4. Master cylinder float.
5. diode/resistor elements.
6. Ignition switch circuitry.
7. anti-lock brake control module.
