I have done something in my garage for several years that helps make my vehicle work a bit easier. I take old carpet and cut it into 3'X4' pieces. I cut two slits about 3" long, 16" apart and parallel to the 3' side about 4" from the 3' edge. I deal these carpet pieces out around and under the vehicle or bike I'm working on. Easier to stand on than the floor. Warmer on the cold floor. Soaks up spills. Dropped parts and tools don't travel as far as when dropped on concrete. When a section gets dirty or stained I just toss it out. Not recommneded however if you will be welding. The two slits are used to hand the sections on two "L" shelf angles I have mounted on the wall.
The carpet I get from the neighborhood when it is put out for trash. Just take a pass on carpet with pet stains. **** is also a no go. We just had our new place recarpeted and I now have a lifetime supply.
