Customizing 4x4
The truck is a 92 F-150 4x4. It does alright in the mud so I figure I can do some body work to it then build up the cababilities when I have anouther car to drive daily. Here are some things I want to do.
F250 grill: I think that the 92-96 250 & 350 had a diffrent grill, is this right? If so, is it just the grill or the whole front clip, and does it fit on a 150? I'm not real fond of the plastic look of the grill.
Front Bumper: I want to build up a bumper kinda like the ones on broncograveyard.com but I don't want to spend 600 on a bumper and then come to find out that it isn't what I really wanted. I want something that I can mount a winch to and I want it to slope back at the bottom so that It flows into the skid pan that I am going to build later. I also want to mount some lights in the angle at the bottom for seeing what is right in front of me and have my headlights aimed as they should be. I think it will be made of stainless but not real sure yet since I know it will cost a ton but I like raw metal and aluminum won't hold up. So now to the questions. Anyone know the dimentions for the fraim mounts and maybe some of the other dimentions? also is there a way to mount a buffer (shocks/springs)on these trucks other than just bolting to the fraim or do I have to design this too?
Roll bar/cage: This will be a little further down the road but what sort of specs are there for a roll bar and cage? What materials are used in these and how do they mount? do $200-300 purchased roll bars actually do anything but take up bed space?
Rino Liner: good or junk? do you have to prep? Can you ever take the bed off without taring it up? Even though it is a short bed it is a truck and I plan to treat it as such.
Thanks all,
Please respond as I am bored and need something to plan for.
