Did the 460 ever come with 4 bolt mains. Ive searched and all I ever find is 2 bolts. I would think on a big block 4 bolt mains would be standard?!?! I'm confused. This is probably a no brainer for some, but if you could help me out and let me know year/makes/models of a 460 with 4 bolt mains if there is such a thing?...or is there even an added bonus to 4 vs 2. I was told strength...help please!
Unless you plan on spinning it past 7500 rpm or so, or are making more than 850 hp with squeeze or a blower, the stock block and crank should hold up fine. The rods tend to be the weakest link.
in a briggs and str- err a small block chevy you need a 4-bolt main to keep it together, but in a big ford, I only think the Boss 429 had 4-bolt mains. the 427 had cross-bolt mains, but thats a different animal altogether...
