New Owner - 2003 XLT
First off a thank you to those of you who post here about your experiences. It played a role in my decision.
Being a die hard Ford man, it was either an Explorer or Expedition for the wife. She wanted an Eddie Bauer, but settled on a loaded XLT. Traded in her '02 Sable on the Explorer and I also have a F-250, V-10, 4x4 CC.
I think the rear may have been changed on the truck already. I was very particular in listening for any signs of the "whine". Here is the truck's spec:
2003 XLT 4x4, red, 4.6L V8, tow package (with 3.73 LS rear), power pedals, CD & cassette combo, leather seats (flint/grey) with power driver, 3rd row seat, running boards, roof rack, rear/aux. climate control, and moon roof. It has a chrome grille and fog lights. I wasn't sure if that was standard in 2003 on not on an XLT.
The one thing I do not like is the bodyside cladding. The Sport package has this painted grey and the XLTs done have it. I am thinking about having this done (paint cladding) if it fades like I keep reading about on the Expedition.
