Question heater Problems

I have a 1994 Explorer and the heater stopped working yesterday. I had a friend of mine check it out for me and he determined that there was a vacuum leak between the internal air controls and the heater valve. We disconnected the vacuum line from the heater valve and bingo...heat. The heater valve seems to be functioning properly, so there must be a leak somewhere in between. He mentioned a "rotary vacuum switch", but I can't seem to find any reference to this on any of the forum threads. Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue? I've been reading all the posts about blend door problems, but I just can't see how that could be causing the problem.

Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Question Could be the blend door

One of the symptoms of a broken blend door is no heat or full heat. The control of the valve is that you apply vacuum to close the valve, so a leak would result in not being able to turn the heat off. You're valve is probably OK, but the blend door could be stuck in the 'cold' air position.
