Tire Tracking
I need help with tire tracking.
when truck goes down the road it looks like
the rear end is going 1 way and the front end the other way.
i have replaced the rear end
i have had the frame checked to see if it was bent it checked out perfect
the passenger side tires line and track good
the driver side when i look down from rear of truck to the front tire looks like it is
sticking out about 1/2 to 3/4 of the tire
the tires do not track like the passenger side
I also checked the leaf springs and both are the same with the
same no# and date also the leaf spring bolts are good and not sheared
please help
The frame has been checked. The axle replaced. Next stop would be your wheels. Is one wheel bent?
The more I think about it, the more ?'s I have. If you drive behind it does the truck drive straight? Or is the truck straight but the axle out of place?
Your frame can be OK but if your axle is mounted askew, then what you describe would happen. I would also look for a driveline that is not straight if the axle is off. You could check this by checking to see if the driveshaft is at the center of the truck where it come out of the tranny. It should then still be centered when it meets the axle. On some trucks this may not work - but it's worth checking.
Measure the outside width of your front wheels. Now check the back wheels for the same width. Some vehicles do not have the same axle width front to back.
no wheels are bent.
When following the truck it does not look staight.
the axle is in place with the spring pins.
the drive line appears straightt.
the front is wider than the back but it looks like
the difference is all on 1 side
i have also contacted the ford motor company to see
what they say
