Chuck, it may take more than assist cylinders...that hood is heavy! But if you do come up with a way to work them in (or an actuator) I'd like to see it. That's one part I've been pulling my hair out ...I just can't come up with a nice simple setup. It would be so cool to pull in a cruise and hit a switch to open the hood .

The back hatch on our Taurus Station Wagon and the Celica Hatchback are not particularly light with all the lower 1/2 steel on the SW and the huge piece of glass that is most of Celi hatch, that why I think the lift assist cylinders from one or the other would be up to the task. I'll have to temporarily disconnect them and get a better idea of the weight comparison. I was looking at the Celi's today to get a better idea as to how they mount and operate and noticed that they also cushion the hatch at the end of the close to keep it from slamming shut. I'll be doing more measuring and figuring in a couple weeks when I have more time once our Xmas rush at the store is over.
