does anybody know here i can find out more about this transmission, as far as gear ratio's tailhousing bolt pattern and output shaft size and spline count. i would like adapt this to a d20. i would prefer the zf but it seems the m5od or m5r1 as it is also called are more plentiful. any information good or bad would be greatly apreciated. thank you.
Personally, I would skip the M5OD and go with an NV4500 if you want an overdrive tranny. The NV also has a granny low first gear and is a very stout tranny, used in 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks, even behind the Cummins diesel. Check www.wildhorses4x4.com for more info. They have the adaptors needed to connect it to a Bronco Dana 20. They also have adaptors to connect a few other trannys to the Bronco t-case. Might want to look at an NP435 or BW-T18 as other possibilities. I plan to put an NP435 in my '69 for the granny first gear and lower second (I have the 3.03 3-speed in it now). Mine's not street driven anymore, so I don't need the overdrive gear, otherwise I'd be looking closely at that NV4500...
I am looking at installing a t-18 in my 76 eb. I currently has a blown c4 in it and I am wondering precisely what sort of driveling modifications it would entail. Just ran into a really good deal on it already married to a d20 with flywheel and bellhousing. From what I can gather overall length will only change by 1/2". What about cross member modification? Do you all know specifically about this? Thnx.
