4WD concern
Hey, I'm a new user and would appreciate a little help with this problem. I have a '99 Ranger Sport w.4.0 and 4spd. O/D auto tranny. When I recently clicked into 4 Hi, it engaged OK but wouldn't disengage. I had 4 Hi engaged but no indicator lights. Then, on my dash the 4Hi/4Lo light would flash a few times at even intervals of 2 minutes. Anyone ever experience this or similar? My mechanic said he couldn't get it to replicate these symptoms, but its happened to me one more time since.

4WD concern
The same happened to me one snowy winter when i ued 4wd alot. The 4wd lights would flash and it wouldn't go from 2w hi into 4wd. The dealer told me either the electronic shift motor was bad on the transfer case or it was the selector **** on the dash. A shift motor was about 375 dollars so that was out, I just started unplugging the electrical connetors on the shift motor to se if there were any trash in them. After I had blown them out with air and put the plugs back together the lights went off and my 4wd hi and lo have worked fine for 2 years. Go figure. If you get in a bind and it won't come out of fourwheel drive, go buy yourself a haynes manual and it tells you how to manually disengage 4wd on the transfer case. good luck
