What is the best front shock replacement to keep the stock ride? I'm going from 235/85X16's on stock 16X7 chrome rims to the 28575X16 tires on aftermarket polished 16X8 rims. My trucks front end is totally stock otherwise. I have a set of ProComp ES3000 shocks for the front, but they will be too tall since I purchased them with hopes of successfully installing the 2" front coil spacers. Well, that idea has flown by the wayside, so now I'm stuck with two ES3000 shocks that won't fit properly on my stock front suspension.
I have 78,000 miles on my 2WD truck. It is a 5.4L gasser. I hope the 285's will improve the tire ride, but it's definitely time to replace the shocks! I replaced the rear shocks with the ProComp ES3000's for the rear. No problem there; but the fronts don't fit!
Should I just get direct replacement shocks from Ford? I want the smoothest ride possible, NOT a harder ride at all. Should I try to exchange my ES3000's for the ProComp direct replacement shock? Bilstein? Edelbrock? Monroe?
Thanks all, for any/all help... and remember, I'm only looking for a stock (or better) ride. My truck see's 99.99% highway/street; I don't do any "off-roading" with it.
