Both are good, but IMO the SCT technology offers more programming flexibility. This flexibility allows tuners to really zero in on your mod combination to maximize performance. If you were really going all out with mods, (cams, heads, long tube headers, etc) SCT is the clear winner.
Regardless of which brand of chip you choose, you will have to use a less aggressive tune to use 91 octane and still avoid detonation. I’m not sure how much less HP you would make tuned at 91 vrs tuned at 93, but it will be enough to be easily noticeable.

I'm no chip guru, but I'd have to disagree. The Diablo chip offers just as much performance for a cheaper price than the SCT does. Also, every mod you just noted, the Diablo can easily program for, and the expense is less than the SCT Tuner for the programming. The upside to the SCT is that it's a tuner, and you can install it (plug it in in other words) MUCH easier than the Chip, plus I think the SCT comes with a diagnostic check and stuff...the chip obviously doesn't. My Diablo chip is the best mod I have going...without it my truck just seems powerless. Weigh out the difference and decide how much cash you wanna poney up, then decide.
I wrote out a lengthy reply...but I decided to post my own findings.
I diablo 3 program CHIP, costs, here at Motorhaven, 297.99. It consists of:
1. stock program
2. Premium Octane high performance program
3. custom program
If you wanted 2 custom tunes, IE if you had a turbo or supercharger, it would be about 90 dollars more. So its about 380 dollars.
The SCT is, at a vendor I trust, is a little different. There is a price difference in aspiration. IE, a NA engine starts out at 400, and the SC or turbo'd engines start at 440. It also has 5 position chips and 3 position tuners. Thats 4 tunes and one stock chip, or 2 custom tunes and one stock tuner.
theres a little info...Good luck in whatever you decide on.

MotorHaven does SCT as well as Diablo. Same price for NA as blown applications. That's 4 tunes, plus stock and kill switch on a chip ($299), or 3 tunes on an SCT Microtuner ($399) or Xcalibrator ($359).
