Were there any choices in axle ratio in the 2001's? It seems that everyone I look at has a 3.55. I am hoping for a 3.73 ls. I am guessing they are rare.
If you want 3.73s and are looking for a sure thing... you'll need to look for ones with the 7700 option. Ford did make a few regular duty F150s with 3.73s, but I think they were all 4X's.
LMAO! I got 3.73's, in a cardboard box in my toolbox! Gave $100 for 'em, came off a new '05 with 8K miles on the ticker. My truck still has the 3.31 rear end it came with. Saving up for LS and to have someone competent swap 'em out for me.

Sounds like a few people want 3.73s.
Yeah, a 3.31 set is great for mileage, but not so great for pulling. That's why the 3.55s sell... a mixture of both worlds. Seems the 3.73 may becoming that middle ground as well, with 4.10s being the pulling gear.
I would have been happy with 3.55's if these trucks still came with 15" rims, but this pig has 17" rims and 275/ shoes from the factory. Combined with the 3.31 gearing it's about worthless except for looking good. I sure can't work out of it.
My truck came with 3.55's also. After I put on 33" tires, I really noticed a lack of off the line get up and go. I installed 4.10's which work great now!
Does anyone know the approx cost to order a set of 373s for front and rear? I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 5.4l which I consistently carry 1000 lb's of weight, 373's would sure be nice.
