I own a 94 Ford Bronco and need to adjust the steering and in order to do so, I need to remove the steering wheel. Unfortuantely, the manual I have, similar to Chilton, does not give directions on removing a steering wheel which contains an airbag. I'm better then the average mechanic and am confident in my ability to remove the steering wheel with the proper directions. Can you assist with directions on removing my steering wheel?
The way Ford cut the spline in the steering shaft the steering wheel will only go on one way. You need to do like andym said and get an alignment. Make sure the steering wheel is in the correct position during the alignment.
just wondering...i recently put on new radius arm brackets and bushings and ont eh test ride the truck pulled to the left pretty hard. I simply tightened the right side raduis arm more and the truck drives straight as an arrow now, but the steering wheel is cocked and annoying. I can live with it but wondered what i could do about that. I purchased a lifetime alignment for 90 bucks from Firestone but i don't think that they really know what they're doing, (and I've heard form other members of this site that Bronco are really hard to align even if you're a pro.) wondered if there ia anything i can do about it. any help would be appreciated.
The alignment is perfect. I just had a 4 wheel alignment done. There is ~1" of play in the steering wheel when the truck is not running and when running, causes an issue since the wheel needs to move that 1" before the steering responds.

The steering wheel should be centered when they do the toe adjustment. If the steering wheel is not centered, they are not doing it right.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO "MOVE" THE STEERING WHEEL.
Doing so could screw up the clock spring and then you'll have an air bag pop-up in your face when you don't need it. Get a alignment the toe is off to one side. TTB's are a PIA to align but they can be done right.
If your steering wheel is off-center, the alignment is wrong. The caster & camber are a pain to set on these, but unless you lift or lower the truck, they rarely if ever need to be touched. The toe-in is what gets jacked on these things, and that's not hard to fix.
If you're talking about slack in the steering, that's probably got nothing to do with the alignment. That's caused by worn parts in the front suspension (ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.) or a loose steering box, which can be adjusted.

Previous alignments were done to your truck when it had radius arm problems, and they were compensating for that. Now that you fixed the radius arm, the wheel is off, because of previous alignments done to try to correct a radius arm problem. Have it aligned again, and they should be able to get it going straight down the road with the steering wheel in the center. Tell them what you did as far as the radius arm, and that the truck drives straight and you simply want the steering wheel centered. It does not take much in the way of alignment adjustments to move the wheel a little bit. Just because the truck is going striaght down the road now does not mean that the alignment is dead on, it's "correct" but off just enough to move the steering wheel a little.
thanks for the advice. I'll get it aligned and see what happens. I bought the lifetime alignment because i figured changing those radius arms would mess thigns up so I guess i made the right choice there. i'll report back when it's done. thanks again for help.
