95 Ranger beeps after starting every time. It is a series of 5 beeps repeated 5 times. I got a lead from a newspaper article that it is because the warning light for the air bag is burned out. Where is this warning light and am I in danger if the air bag deploying unexpectedly. Recently the beeping has started while underway as well. I am getting concerned. Any Help?
Spray some WD40 or similar product in your door latch. It read it on another Ranger site. It worked for me. I've driven 30 miles and 60 minutes with that dinging and spent a few hours finding a solution on the web. I haven't had a problem since (1+ years).
That dinging isn't the problem. I had that too but fixed it a while ago by the WD-40 method you mentioned. This is a beep that is not a normal alarm or warning for anything that happens in the regular operation of the truck. I am getting worried because the occurances are more frequent and sustained. Sometimes it goes on for 10 minurtes. But it always beeps 5 sets of 5 beeps (25 beeps) on start-up. Then sometimes again after some time on the road. Please help. The service manager at the Ford dealer here told me he never heard of it and maybe it is an aftermarket alarm system. It is not.
I would simply take and try turning the airbag on and see if this fixes the problem. There is usually a switch underneath the dash in the middle of the cab that should require the same key that your door takes.

Thanks to all the guys who have just solved my problem with the constant dinging noise. I haven't tried the WD40 method, I actually took my truck to a dealership to get the dinging noise and the dome light fixed( because it always stays on) and they said it would cost me somewhere around $300 to get fixed.....must be some expensive WD40 they are using
When you first turn the key on, do you see the light that says "Airbag"? If not, you should replace the bulb. You will have to dismantal the dash to get to it though! Be EXTRA careful because the instrument cluster contains a lot of electronics. If this does not fix the problem, I would suggest taking it to a dealer or garage. Airbags are something the "normal" at-home mechanic shouldn't be messing with. i can do almost anything on my ranger, but I won't mess with the airbag system. Good-Luck!
