I was born in 73, so I never heard much of him. I just saw a movie about him the other night. Wow! That guy was twisted. I can't believe how brazen he was. I think he killed as many as 3 girls in one day. I did a search on him and it amazes me how seemingly incompetent some of the investigators had to have been to let him slip by for so long. Even after his girlfriend contacted police about her suspicions. Does anyone remember the fear or shock of those years?
Yea. It is possible someone I went to HS fell victim to him.
One of my friends in college was a sorority sister of Georganne Hawkins. She walked out the door to take the trash out or something and was never seen again.
It created different feelings for people. Certainly young women must have felt under siege. I just felt it was part of an overall bad world we lived in.
Go read "The Stranger Beside Me" by Ann Rule.
I suppose there is some justification for continuing to make movies about this guy and Charlie Manson and the others. But remember, the people who make the movies sometimes change things and are basically out to make money, not necessarily to tell the story.
Yes, I remember them well. The unfortunate part is he had a genuis criminal mind. Too bad He didn't focus his attentions on helping out society instead. One of the best jokes I ever seen on a wall was ---Guess who quit smoking? Ted Bundy...
Atleast he isn't playing golf somewhere laughing at the system. Some people do get what they deserve.
There is no doubt that he was a serial killer but,
There was a program on a&E or the History channel that I watched last week.
It got to the point that law enforcement was coming to the jail he was being held at to question him and he was actually getting to look at the case files before he was interviewed.
He would then tell them stuff he read in the file and confess.
There is a lot of doubt whether he actually Killed a quarter of the people he confessed to.
ever hear of Richard kuklinski <-- did i get that right???
he lost track of how many people he killed... the files will never be closed on him because they will never be able to solve all of it. hed kill people just to try out a new method, even on innocent by-standers. there were 2 documentaries on him on HBO, called "The Iceman" estimates are over 100 people, his family thought he was an insurance salesman.
he was a hit man for the mafia, who started doing it on the side for entertainment purposes.
people like this usually start out small, torturing animals but it doesnt take long for them to move to the next target- people...
im paranoid to even exceed the speed limit in my truck nowdays, cops are everywhere but where are they when all these innocent people are being killed by the same people?? how does one get away with so many crimes?
I'm not sure which one it was. I was flipping through and it caught my eye, but I only saw about the last half. I think it was on encore or something. It was a premium channel.
I agree that the movie producers skew things. They made it seem like he killed women everyday of his life. Some of the scenes were recognizable from the records but were different. Sure there is some creative liscence in the interpretation of the facts, but that shouldn't include making things up.
The woman I work with almost fell victim to Ted Bundy. He approached her and asked her to help do something with his boat. She says that she doesn't know why she turned him down. She fit the description of his choice victim: skinny with long stringy hair. He used the same line to abduct and kill 2 women that day.
She gets really freaked out by news of rapists and kidnappings... I don't blame her!

I don't think he had a genius criminal mind. I'd say he was probably more intelligent than the average bear, but he made many mistakes. I think he was more lucky than smart. He left his teeth marks on the buttox of a victim, which lead to his execution. That was stupid even before forensic science was so advanced. He never changed his MO, even after a description and sketch of "Ted" driving a tan VW was distributed.
SuperSpike: that is crazy. I'll bet she thinks of that all the time. I know it would freak me out knowing that I came close to death from a serial killer.
