OK fellow ford folks, I'm usually in the 48-60 forum but have a friend who needs some info and where better thatn here to ask?
Given:
1981 Ford truck currently with a big 6 and manual 3 speed.
Problem:
Friend has only one normal leg (seriously) and one off just below the knee, but has a prosthesis, which makes it very hard for him to drive the manual.
Question:
Will an AOD out of a 87 LTD bolt up to the big 6 (of course changing the flex plate) and will there be any difficulties.

i was going to do the swap, I even got a neutral flex plate. every thing should fit. The tricky part is hooking up the TV cable to carb. You'll have to track down carb linkage, or spend the $100 for the lokar AOD cable (probably the easiest, although costs more). I never got to do it, ended up going with another manual.
unless gas mileage is the main concern, I'd probably swap in a C6. Easier and tougher.
