I have a 94 with a 302 and the airbag light is blinking again. I did a search throught his website and found the last thread I posted about this light but the link to error codes didn't work anymore, I wondered if anyone could help with that?
The error code is #32, I wondered if anyone else has had that issue and what they did to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
"Error code 32 is the most common air bag problem. Chances are Very Good that you have bad clock spring in the steering column. It is Very Easy to replace! Get a NEW one from Ford. They are not very expensive (between ?$45 to $90?). Do NOT waste your time or money getting a used one from the junk yard that may break soon. The clock spring connects the turning steering wheel to your stationary steering column. So, over time, they have a tendency to break."
i already replaced my clock spring with a new one a few months ago when i had a problem. I'll have to check the code again, maybe i'm couting blinks wrong? thanks for the advice, i'll report back in a few hours.
I counted the blinks again and sure enough, it's blinking 32, but i can't imagine it's the clock spring since it's new????...any other ideas you think it might be please let me know.
And although I've been known to screw the easiest job up a few tiems beofre getting it right-I doubt there is anything I could have screwed up when putting in that clock spring. I may have to take the steering wheel apart again and check my connections again, maybe a wire worked itself loose or something? thanks again Billy Bob.
I just saw on another post that even after replacing the clock spring, there was an issue with a ground wire from the clock spring, but only when the iginition was on. Might be something to look at.
is the horn and cruise working? If so, look to other problems before replacing the spring. Disco the battery for a while, and see if the codes will reset. Check all the fuses as well.
yeah my horn does still work. I'll take a look at the fuses and disconnect the battery like you said, thanks for the suggestion i'll let you if that does the trick. thanks agian.
