Check the review on the Sony DSC W-1. This is one fine camera. You can add extra lenses, etc.

I had a Sony Mavica for about 3 years. Back in November, it started taking bad pictures (dark, and out of focus) intermittently. Bottom line, I looked for
a new camera.....I just got it this week, a Nikon D70, which I have been very
impressed with!!

If you want to go that route, I was in best buy a few days ago and saw a couple different sony point and shoot digitals from 4 megapixels up to 7.1, all pretty reasonably priced. You might wanna look into 'em. Good luck finding one.
