my wife 96 eb explorer will only blow cold air with heat on max and on 90. ive been reading the posts...temp gauge in the middle, hoses are hot, thinking its the blend door. but i ran the test with electronic temp control and it displayed 125. i found out that it is insufficient coolant temp for closed loop fuel control. what does that mean, how to fix, and should i still try the blend door fix? any help is appreciated.

I had that problem code come up shortly after I bought my 98. If the thermostat is stuck open the vehicle will never warm up properly (no heat) and stay in open loop fuel control which is a warm up mode which bypasses the oxygen sensors. You're vehicle should go closed loop after warm up. I wouldn't mess with the blend door as I don't think its your problem and a broken blend door shouldn't throw any code that I'm aware of.....
i appreciate your reply. i did fix it for now. no heat was because of the blend door. the code i think was thrown because the coolant was low. forgot to check that. after i fixed and filled...i ran the test again and it was clear. thanks.
