4 X 4 Help please
Can someone please tell me what the transfer case shift pattern is?
Thanks, Tom
It's a lot easier than you probably think it is. You should have manual lockouts on the front hubs. The dial locks the wheel to the axle. If it's unlocked, the front axle shafts aren't connected to the hub and don't drive the wheel. If they're locked, you can switch back & forth without getting out of the cab.
A lot of people lock the hubs in when they know they might need them, and then just switch the transfer case back and forth when they need 4x4.
If you are new to 4x4, I guess the 1st thing to know is NOT to run 4x4 on dry or even wet pavement. Only when you are going to need 4x4 traction, like mud or snow should you be going into 4x4. 4x4 on dry pavement? "Clink, bang, that'll be $400, please".
Your transfer shifter might go in a straight line:
2H
N
4H
4L
Or reverse of that.
Good luck.
