Ignition switch question??

Hell All

it's an 87 f350 w/manual trans and tilt steering.

Here's my problem! The ignition cylender is kind of tight when turning the key, and then some times I won't be able to turn the key from the run position back to the lock position. Almost feels like it needs grease?

On the top of the steering column close to the dash is uncoverd, and there is a flat bar that slides foward and backwards as you turn the key. If I wiggle that bar then I'm able to turn the key back to the lock position. But is still feels tight when turning.

I guess what I really need to know is! can I lubricate it, and the ignition cylender?

Thanks

AL

It sounds like the ignition actuator going out on you it controls the flat bar you are talking about costs about 12.00 dollars at the ford dealer. I have done two not a bad job mine were on 85 86 f150 both with tilt wheel.

If it turns out to be your lower actuator broken, take a look at this post. There are several links inside this post that will carry you to other post and explain a lot of the lower actuator repair.
