Anyone have any opinion or report on how an 02 (regular cab) f-150 4x4 would perform ? Hopefully not as bad as the supercab that was tested in an insurance offset crash test a while back...That is scarey...No wonder the 04 model was redesigned..any thoughts??

well I disagree on the trucks performing badly...I just walked away from a bad accident involving a 97 supercab 4x4. just look at my gallery pics,I took 3 major hits!
all in a split second, into a guardrail {60mph} hit from behind by a semi, then flipping me into the air 10-20 ft, in the air and landing in the air. The truck did its job protecting me,but on the other hand every accident is differant, even a 5mph one can kill you. It depends on what happens. I lock my doors , wear my seat belts and hope for the best outcome...
By the way, the truck still will start and run. I'd say its built pretty tough and very crash worthy.
My insurance gives me a SuperSafe Vehicle discount for driving my 99 F150 SuperCab. I bought it because it was rated by Consumer Reports to be the second safest, second only to Toyota.
A f-150 might get a B rating and a lightweight car might get a B rating. But that B rating to the f-150 compared to that B rating of the lightweight car is way more higher.
You are in a truck, you are safer than all the cars and smaller vehicles on the road.
