alright... well im going to be putting a cd player, 4 speaker, amp, and 2 12's in my f2.... now it a very small space and i was wondering where have other ford owners put there equitment in such a crammed cap?
i got my stereo in my glove box, 6x9 in the door panels,6'' highs in the kick panels and 12'' subs mounted in a slanted back wall that i made behind the seat that comes down from the window to the floor that angles with the seat so no room is taken up. and it stretches from door to door. and the amp will go under the seat.
In another old vehicle I had (63 Dog Panel), I built a self contained unit that fit under the seat. That way is was hidden from view, no damage to the dash or door panels, and was easy for me to remove - I secured it with a couple of masterlocks.
I"m with mtflat! I Sing and drive my kid crazy! My kid hates it because I sing so bad!! Actually I have an AM/FM hanging under the dash, as there were holes there anyway... Speakers, well for us "older folks" we just need 2, we must have better hearing than you youngins..LOL
I don't like to put holes in these old trucks if I dont have to, so the speakers are under the seat attached to the seat bracket, sound kinda bounces off the doors into the cab... Works OK.

Reason: grammer
yea i wouldnt be shoving as much as i could if it wasnt for the $1000 that i drop for the stereo in my daily driver which is being replaced with the f2... so i really dont want it to goto waste... plus it doesnt hurt to have it loud so the people next to me at the stoplight dont have to hear me sing
If you've taken the tank out of the cab, there should be plenty of room behind the seat for the subs and amps. The 56 (that is your truck in your profile?) also has a lot of space above the windshield for an overhead console, or build one below the dash. In our panel, I'm going to build a custom console for the head unit, amps, mount the speakers firing out the sides. Sub will go under the pass seat.
Car audio, one of my other passions. Got a new install in progress now. Head unit in recessed glovebox with a fabbed plate, component speakers in kicks, AMP on the back wall, pair of 8" subs designed for use in very small sealed encosures. Under the seat, hopefully facing backwards.
Too my knowledge, no 12 inch subwoofer exists that can be properly installed due to space limitations of a stock Effie cab. Most require about a one cubic foot enclosure for EACH speaker. It's hard to get much over .6 cube total. All you can do is make a tiny box and see if you can live with it. I'd forget about running dual 12s. The good news is you won't need two twelves in that little cab.
As you probably know, there will be wiring considerations when going from two to one sub. Or you'll melt your AMP down. I'm not sure what the voice coil configuration is on your subs. Holler if you need an assist.

Oh I suppose I should throw my two cents worth in here since I went all through this myself. In the dash is the radio/cd player with a small amp. 5"-6" round speakers are in the kick panels and 5x8 100 amp are in the boxed in area around my cab tank. I put lots of sound deadening in these areas also. The antenna is frenched in right behind the driver door. I think I have a pic in my gallery of the speaker and antenna there. System sounds awesome .
I hardly ever listen to it, though....the darn truck sounds so sweet when driving it I never think to turn it on .
When I do my 54, I'm going to keep it simple and put a reverb in if I can find one. Any of you guys remember the reverbs of the 50's & 60's? Boy, I'm sure giving my age away now .
Norb
Yes, had one in my 67. Used a long nichrome "spring" as a delay mechanism. Made the Mono AM radio sound awesome until you hit a hard bump then you'd get this amplified "BOINGGGG!!!!" LOL!
I may have grey hair, but I regularly beat a lot of guys 1/2 my age!
"I put lots of sound deadening in these areas also."
Norb just made the most significant point of this thread. Sound Deadening is without a doubt the most important thing you can do to improve audio quality. Especially if you are running an amp. The trucks steel interior is a serious handicap.
