2001 Ranger heater and "bump" problem
I have a 2001 Ranger Edge 4X2 that has some problems. When I come to a stop and when I accelerate from a stop, I feel a "Bump". The first time this happened to me, I had just stopped for a red light and thought I got bumped from behind, except there wasn't anyone behind me (Hummmmm). Any ideas? Then, the other day while I was waiting in line at my bank, my heater started blowing cold air. This kept up all the way to work. When I drove home after work, the heater was blowing just enough heat to take the chill off, but not much more. The indicator on the temp gauge is reading just to the left of center, which is probably around 180 degrees (why can't they put numbers on these gauges?). This just started about a week ago. Before this, the heater would drive you right out of the truck! Do you suppose my thermostat is stuck open?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, the heat problem sound like the thermostat to me,
let me know what you find out,
Guy
lock solenoid. The dealership:
*Replaced the lockup clutch solenoid on the transmission
*Replaced the entire trans assembly from the converter back
*Reprogrammed the PCM a few times
*Replaced the MAF sensor assembly
After all this, the truck seemed to run worse at idle than before, but the bump was gone, at least for the 1000 or so miles I kept it before it was turned in for RAV.
My 2002 replacement is a lot less noisy (improved soundproofing on the firewall?) and all those clicks/thunks coming from the motor, which I also assumed to be heat/ac related, appear to be gone. Unfortunately, the timing chain rattle the 2001 had is back for 2002. Sheesh...
