tire size

what i the biggest tire i can put on my 04 ford 150 xl 4x4 reg cab without rubbing?i have 275 70r 17 on it now...im looking at goodyear mtr 285 70 17 ??

those bigger tires, at the wides part of the sidewall will be under a half inch wider, and overall height will be a tiny bit over half inch overall height difference. On my truck I have about an inch of clearance and if there is mud built up on the fender the tires will rub it down to about an inch thick so I know I can't go over that on mine.

how much clearance do you have?
