is there a way i could put a 5 speed manual trans in my '91 bronco?
its got a 302 and i believe a E4OD, and it goes good, but gets bad mileage(4:11 gears dont help either), but i really want a standard transmission, i miss the one from my old pickup(1990 F150)
i dont know how feasable it is, but it sounds like a good summer project. so if anyone could give me any pointers or insight, i would appreciate it.
Might be easier to find a Bronco with stick since you need to change quite a few things. I don't think MT will get significantly better mpg since the Bronco is a fairly heavy and not very aerodynamic car with a big frontal area. I was thinking about the same thing, but after reading some people's comment (i.e.: "never again" ) I'll stick to whatever I have for now. I plan to buy a Bronco with MT in the next couple of years, however.
If you stick to your intention, you probably need a donor car (i.e. F150) where everything you need is functional. Some people had done it.
yes it can be done. the prefered Tranny to swap over would be the ZF 5speed. its a very strong manual tranny, way better then the m5od that came stock in most broncos/f150's. you can find the zf in most 90+ f250's. Do a search on zf swap and im sure you questions will be answered.
