I have a supposedly bullet proof dana 60 that is powered by my 360 and turning 35's. While driving down the road, it suddenly acted like a broken driveshaft or u joint and the engine just revvedup and the truck coasted to a stop. After trying to tow it, I realized that nothing outside was broken and the passenger side wheel would not turn. I removed the 8 bolts holding the axle shaft in place and the wheel was able to turn. The axle shaft will not budge at all and I am trying to find out how to get it out and get it running again. Any suggestions?
Nothing is bullet proof if its run dry. Often the cause for your problem is the inner hub bearing seizing up and this can tear things up real bad. To the point of needing a complete new rear.
With luck it wont be so extreme for you.
The D60 was used by Mopar with big blocks in the muscle car era; they were reliable but nothing is ever bullet proof.
