i was wondering is there a differance in a cashiers check and a moneyorder? i bought a truck of ebay within a few miles the guy wont take cash but a cashiers check , being sometimes not on the game is the same or differnt ? Thanks
Heh, dont feel dumb. I ordered some lenses from Ebay and I put Money Order as my payment option. It says to put item # and a lot of other stuff, but where do you write that sutff at??? Soooo, I have not payed and Ebay gave me some sort of strike..
I sold my custom Harley Davidson while I was on the road in 2000. Being that I was out of town I contacted the local bank before I did this and they recommended a MONEY ORDER as the safest way of accepting payment. I do know that as neat as cash sounds, often banks write up a documentation to alert the fed's and Irs when you deposit large amounts of cash.. Throws up a big red flag for drug related money or scamming of a bank.KNock on wood but, I have had thousands of transactions with money orders and never a problem-- basically will not take a check from anyone anymore..Sometimes when I asked for a money order they give me a cashiers check- I assume they are basically the same, 93GREEN f150- just jotted it down in small by your purcahse name on MO.
Alot of times people don't want cash because they don't want to carry that much money on them. They don't feel safe. A cashier's check vs. a personal check? A cashier's check or certified check locks the funds in the account untill the check is cashed. Also, it doesn't matter whether the money is in cash or check, the paperwork, I believe, is still filled out to the feds.
When I sell on Ebay I will take Money Orders and sometimes checks, but always PayPal. It I feel is the safest, easist, & the least hassle. Most people I deal with prefer PayPal as a way to receive money or pay money.
It's true about the Feds being notified....but I believe it has to be at least a 10,000 dollar transfer. I had a friend who gave her son 10,000 cash for his wedding......her financial advisor told her that she was being investigated...along with her son....his dad....and the caterers that part of that money was for.
A cashers check is a check from a bank. They take the money out of your account and then write a check to the person you want to send it to.
A Money order is were you give a company money, and in return they give you a piece of paper saying that you gave them money and can withdraw that amount from any of their locations.
