95 Ranger door ajar problem!
I have a 1995 Ranger Splash. I bought it new. For about the past 2 years it has made this dinging noise like the door was open, and also the dome light would stay on during this. I removed the dome light, but I haven't yet figured out what to do about the dinging noise. I have looked at every option, can't remove the fuse because it also controls odometer, windshield wipers, and gauges. So does anyone have any clue on what I can do about this? I know mine is not the only one having this problem because a dealership told me that they have had a couple that they had to fix, and that it would cost me around $300 to fix it. All help would be greatly appreciated

Post this in the Ranger forum.
But let me give you some information, my guess is it the (not sure what is called), but its a little **** that when you open the door in comes out and puts the dome light and the annoying sound on. It may have gotten water in it or some wires are chaffed through grounding it out. Get a new switch or follow the wires till you find something.
i had same prob with my '95 ranger. all you need to do is spray wd-40 in the door jam, the switch is inside there and is probably dirty it worked for me for 2+ yrs
Could you tell me please if it was WD-40 you used or electrical contact cleaner as someone suggested. I tried WD-40 and had no luck. The dome light continues to stay on (until it "times out" 30-60 minutes later) and the chime continues sometimes as well (15-20 min) before finally quitting. :-(
I tried both the Contact Cleaner, first, then the WD-40 and I thought it was fixed. But later it started again, so I repeated the same process and I have not had the problem occur so far. The second time i really drenched the latch mechanism about three times. But again this seems to be working for now, I guess I will try to do this once a month.
