I'm having an interesting problem with the power door lock switch on my drivers door (99' XLT SOCH).
Whenever the door is open and I push the unlock button, nothing will happen. I push the lock side and it locks. If I close the door, then the button will unlock the doors. It's rather annoying to have to have the door shut to ulock all the doors. It also is only doing this on the drivers side.
On a 94 Exp, I found all the switches and wiring good, but the actuator itself was bad. The dealer wants about 68 dollars (for the '94) and the salvage yard wanted 20 dollars. No one was available at the salvage yard (lunchtime), so I went home, removed the actuator, and after breaking it apart, found the little motor inside probably had a dead spot on it. I hooked it up directly to a battery and let it run a minute, I used a ty-rap and put it back together and it works fine. I don't know how long this will last, and I don't know if this will help you, but good luck.
Sounds like a wire is going open where it flexes in the door jamb. Take a look at your wiring diagram so you know which wire to look at, then remove the drivers side kick panel & check that wire.
