ok here it is i have a stock! 87 f250 4x4, well i was 4 wheelin the other day, doing fairly well over rocks fallen trees (small ones) and what not, untill i came across what i thought was just a small puddle, lol, i got some speed up and hit it at around 20-25 and that is when my truck sank like a rock, it was an act of god that i got out of it with my engine still in good operating order, my question is, has ay one ever put a snorkel on their f250, and if so where ca i get one, i've looked on line and all i saw was jeep nissan and path finder snorkles, i have a lot more planed for my truck but for right now i believe a snorkel is a good idea, well my truck isn't so stock i have 33 inch super swamper boggers on it front brush gard and a winch, but all else is stock, any help with this would be great, thx,
I don't think anybody makes a snorkle kit for your fullsize, but you could probably adapt one from another model. Many guys just make their own, its not too tough.
Just in case you're not aware, there's a lot more to deep-water fording than just a snorkel kit. Most have to do with making sure that electrical stuff doesn't short out, but there are some other factors.
If you're really interested in deep-watering, you might check out a couple of the Hummer forums...the stock H1 can go through 30" of water, and with the military kit, it can go to 60" which is enough to totally trash your interior.
yes i do knowthereisa lot more to water driving than just a snorckel kit, i have looked in to mooving the ignition box in to the cab and mooving the brain to a higher spot in the cab, and any other stuff i have to moove will be mooved, and water proofed, that is the easy part, the part i hate is running around in circles trying to find a snorckel that will fit my 87 f250, and as to fabing one i can't weld nor do i know anyone who can.
