Hello I have a 89 BroncoII That starts fine when cold but it has to spin over a while and press the accelerator peddle to get it to start when hot. Not a big problem but I know it is not right. A while being about 5 to 10 seconds. It also has a rich smell at the exhaust. A little history, new heads, lifters, 02 sensor, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fan and clutch assy, oil pump, cleaned the throttle body. It is not giving a check engine light. I have not checked for codes. Also any easy ways to trouble shoot fuel gauge and oil psi gauge. I changed oil sender but it still would not work. Fuel ?????. Checked oil with a manuel gauge. Thanks for any help.
FPR, I think that is a fuel pressure regulator? I will check it out in the am. I also wish I would have went ahead and pulled the engine and done a overhaul. That oil pump was a job.
i had an 86 2.9 with same problems. there is a sensor just behind the gooseneck that looks similar to a water temp send sensor. what it does is when the engine is hot or cold, it tells the brain to either richen, for cold starts, or lean it out for hot starts. my analogy of it is, like a choke on a carb. motor. since the newer trucks are EFI you still need to have a little richness on cold starts.do not buy a temp.sensor,as they are not the same.ron46
